Our Annual Summer Trip to LBI

Aug 31
3 min read

We love Long Beach Island, aka LBI. We’ve been going for years, and it has become such a special little tradition for me, Nick, and the boys. It’s honestly SO crazy to think that last summer I was pregnant with little Colt, and this year he was earthside, soaking up all the fun with his big brother. 🥹

I couldn’t tell you exactly how LBI became “our” place, but I can definitely tell you why we keep going back. The beach, the food, the slower pace, the family time, and of course... THE COFFEE. If you’ve been following me for any amount of time, you already know I frequent basically every local coffee spot in

the area. Multiple times a day, if we’re being honest. We have an addiction, and we are NOT ashamed. 👏🏻

This year’s family getaway was filled with delicious food—some of which I am genuinely still thinking about as I type this—unreal coffee flavors, lots of beach time, and tons of fun with friends + family. And can we talk about the coffee for a second? Because How You Brewin? had me questioning whether I actually needed to come home. I’m seriously debating a trip back down just for a few repeat sips. 😂And we’re still thinking…

But one of my favorite parts of our annual LBI tradition is watching Walker + now Colt grow up there. Every year feels a little different. New memories, so many new phases, new favorite foods (and some old time faves for the win), new little things we all get excited about. AND now we get to watch Colt experience it all for the first time, too.

I know we can’t be the only family who has those places that somehow become your place. The place you return to year after year, and then before you know it, you can’t imagine a summer (or year) where you don’t go back.

And because I’m still not over how much fun we had + because, hell, you KNOW the food was one of the best parts of the trip, here’s a little recap of everything we ate, got caffeinated on, + absolutely need to do again next summer.

PS. Are you going soon? Here’s my to-do list for you:

☕️The Coffee tour:

  • Best Overall: How You Brewin, you cannot go wrong

  • Funkiest drink: Salty Dog at Guapos Coffee House

  • Visited the most: IYKYK How You Brewin

  • Most Surprising Flavor: The Mermaid Room lemon cold brew

🍕What we ate:

  • INSANE: Elli’s Chicken & Crab Cakes, no notes

  • Sweets: Sweet Melissa Goodness

  • Fresh AF Seafood: Ship Bottom Shellfish

  • 10/10: Holiday Snack Bar

🐣The Mom tour:

  • Not accessible but worth the trip: How you brewin, no ramp, but ALWAYS someone kind to help a mama with a stroller out

  • Amazing for the kiddos: Fantasy Island (a must) + Bray Village, Pearl Street Market

✨Top Moment:

We LOVE the Viking Village and obv seeing the lighthouse. It’s always so fun! You can walk around, explore the little shops and what’s even more amaze is that there's a How You Brewin right there, so it’s basically my dream adventure come true. It’s right by the bay, so there are boats everywhere, which kept Walker + Colt amused. Seafood, boats, coffee, need I say more?

Until next year, LBI! 🌊
