Mannikka & Luke: Bold and Colorful {PLUS} an A-List Celeb Performance!

Ten years after their wedding, Mannikka and Luke decided to celebrate their anniversary with the most incredible two-day vow renewal. From the moment Mannikka and I started talking about what she wanted, I knew this one was going to be really really special!

Mannikka and Luke live locally and they’re both warm, brilliant people who work in education in several different respects. Mannikka is truly one of the most fun humans I have ever worked with. She has this amazing infectious energy, hosts her own podcast, and immediately said yes to every creative direction I sent her way. She was a dream to work with!

The Venues (Yes, there were 2!)

Night One: A Home Filled With Texture + Color

The first evening they hosted at their home in Fair Haven, where the actual vow renewal ceremony took place. I teamed up with one of my favorite floral designers everrrrr, Taylor from Rising Tide Botanicals, which is always such a treat.

For the home event, I did a blush velvet paper, then mounted each piece on hot pink acrylic, a combination that felt bold but perfect for the direction they wanted.

One of my favorite elements was the notes sign I created. I did a light up sign, and Mannikka loved it so much that she actually brought it with her to the second night’s party in NYC.

This event was such a creative highlight for me, and the freedom she gave me resulted in some of my favorite pieces of the year!

Night Two: A Manhattan Party at Gitano

For the second night, everyone headed into downtown Manhattan. The couple even arranged transportation for all of their guests, which got the party going right from the start!

Gitano is known for its lush, tropical aesthetic, and Mannikka and Luke truly did not skimp on a single detail. Hanging fabrics, layered textures, disco elements, florals. Every corner felt intentional.

For this night’s signage, I wanted something equally layered and sophisticated, so I proposed marbled acrylic backers with white acrylic mounted on top. Mannikka loved the idea, and I carried that look across all the signage. I also created a metallic gold bar sign that fit perfectly with the disco tropical theme. Ahhh so cool!

I also created a hanging display of their wedding vows that was installed in the main space and looked incredible against such a beautiful venue!

The Cherry On Top: An A-List Performance?!

Before the event, the couple had to sign an NDA that hinted that a celebrity appearance might occur, but they didn't know who or what that really meant.

And then, in the middle of the party… The Jonas Brothers came onto the stage!

They filmed their new music video on-site, and gave everyone a private performance. It was f*ckin epic!
