Fall in Love. Fall Weddings? Here We Go.
Let’s unpack this. For whatever reason, people assume that summer is wedding season. But contrary to popular belief, October is actually the most popular month to get married, followed closely by September. Yes, you read that right. Are we surprised? Don’t be. I get it!
There is something about a fall wedding that just feels a little extra special. The colors, the textures, the food (9/10 comfort vibe), the florals, the weather, the overall mood… There are SO many ways to make a fall wedding feel completely different from anything happening the rest of the year.
But here’s the thing I really want to say: just because certain months are more popular doesn’t mean there is one “right” month to get married. So, lovebirds, when you’re searching for that perfect wedding month + wedding date, remember: it’s whatever works best for YOU. Every season + every month has its own unique lovey vibe, and honestly? That’s half the fun of getting creative with your wedding details.
November? Bring on the color.
November weddings can be SO good. Think deeper color palettes, cozy details, rich textures, seasonal florals, + all those moody fall vibes. There is something about a November wedding that gives you permission to really lean into the drama in the best possible way. Ya know?!
And please, let’s talk about the stationery possibilities. Dark ink? Dark colors? Gorgeous. Layered paper? Yes. Velvet? Obviously. Moody menus, beautiful day-of signage, textured invitations… I could literally keep going here.
August? We’re not done with summer yet.
August still gives us all the fun of summer. Pastels? Absolutely. Softer color palettes? YES. Dreamy end-of-summer wedding days? Give them to me. ALL of them.
If you’re a bride who loves color but doesn’t want the full-on fall palette, August is such a fun time to play around with shades. You can bring in coastal details, bright florals, playful stationery, and those lighter summer textures while still feeling like you’re right on the edge of a new season. There’s an open-ended possibility to mix in some darker hues too. Like I’ve said, there are options all over the place.
September + October? Give me the best of both worlds.
This is where things get REALLY fun. For me, personally. Like, honestly, I have fun with weddings all year, but for whatever reason, September + October gets my innovation rolling in a different kind of way.
September + October give us the best combination of a little fall, a little summer, AND THE perfect excuse to play with color, texture, and all those seasonal details. YES, let’s DO it.
September in particular totally has my heart for a Jersey Shore wedding, because hey, Local Summer. The beach is still a vibe; you can get that gorgeous end-of-summer feeling without necessarily committing to a full summer wedding aesthetic and, let’s be real, it’s just a good month all around.
October, on the other hand? October is where we can really start to PLAY. Like, guys, I can’t wait for you to see some of the things I’ve gotten to design for October this year.
Think terracotta. Deep greens. Bold pinks. Warm yellows. Burnt orange. Brown. Velvet. Unexpected textures. Moody cocktail signs. Seasonal details. Insane things that have you looking at wedding stationery for all the best reasons. We live. We love.
There really is no “perfect” wedding month.
The moral here? There is no one “perfect” month when it comes to getting married.
There is the month that works for your schedule. Your venue. Your vision. Your relationship. Maybe your family + budget too… But, honestly, it ends up being the month that just feels like you.
Maybe you’ve always dreamed of a summer wedding by the water. Maybe you’re a fall girl through and through. Maybe you want a colorful November wedding that feels completely unexpected. Or maybe you want to get married in September because you love the beach but also really want to play with those first hints of fall.
DO IT. Your wedding doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s just because you picked the same month.
In fact, I think that’s one of my favorite parts of what I do at The Jess Press.
